Alright so I have a couple maxxed out professions across my Horde characters on Mal'ganis-US. My warrior has JC (525)and Engineering(525), My priest has Enchanting(460) *almost there* and Tailoring(525). Then my druid has Mining (525) and no other profession with him. I was thinking of herbalism.
OK So lets get to the main point here, I'm having serious trouble making profits on my server. About 95% of the server is Horde and I found it generally hard to work with a crowded AH like this. I barely make any profit with JC. Engineering, forget it, thats for fun and a nice helmet at the beginning of each expansion.... Enchanting ~ I get unlucky with Hytponic dust because it goes for 80silver on my server. Tailoring is hard because Emersilk Cloth is insanely over priced on my server too. The only thing I can do is mine and it gets boring VERY quickly.
Solutions:
A: Keep mining and level herbalism up with it and make my mind go numb with a repetitive process.
B: Level another character to 85 to fit Inscription/Blacksmith along with another profession of choice.
C: Drop engineering and take up Blacksmith.
You said it yourself, Embersilk cloth is insanely over priced... The best solution for u is to farm embersilk cloth... Buy a potion of treasure finding, go to the stone hearth area in deepholm. Use your potion of treasure finding and start killing the humanoids there... ull find plenty.. In one hour of doing so (assuming the embersilk cloth in ur realm is overpriced) you might get more than 1.3k gold. If it is literally "insanely overpriced" as u said then u might get over 2k an hour..

HotCow there is also the factor of your dedication to this matter, # to find a decent route in deepholme or twilight highlands. # to know what time to farm so you arent disturbed 1 bit by others who know about this. # Playing with the auction house. # Finding clients on your own and sticking to them. # Finding what is in demand that can be derived from having embersilk cloth and the mats u disenchant from all the greens u will get, for example: Embersilk bag which actually includes both ;)................ These are all matters only you can find solutions to, and finding them isnt hard at all.

i think if u can get ahold of some cheap ore then prospect it into the jems in raw form u might be ok, i accidenitly bought a crap load of mith and couldn't sell it so that's what i did and it's turning out not so bad.
