WoW Mining Gold Making Series Guide EP3: Deepholm (Elementium/Obsidium) - Best Routes!

In this video, I'll show you how to make good gold with Mining in Deepholm by farming up Elementium and Obsidium Ore and what you can expect to farm up gold/ore wise per hour. This will show you how to optimize your time in Deepholm by choosing a route that fits your situation with the amount of competition you have on your server. Mining can be very competitive so it's always good to know how you can bank even with the high competition. Mining truly is a great gold making profession. Please enjoy this WoW Mining Gold Making Series Guide EP3: Deepholm (Elementium/Obsidium) - Best Routes! and if you have any questions or feedback feel free to post them below in the comments or on our forums.
- Requirements: Level 82+, 500 in Mining, and Azeroth Flying/Flying Mount.
- Check out my Mining Guide Leveling 1-525 for a great way to level Mining.

WoW Mining Gold Making Guide EP3: Deepholm - Best Routes | Getting Started/Farming
To get started, you'll need to have 500 Mining and be atleast level 82 with flying. You'll also want to download the addons, Routes, Gatherer or Gathermate2 and its data; if you want the nodes already marked although I prefer a clean slate and like to make my own personally. and have a Mining bag or a mostly empty inventory. Also, make sure you have one regular bag to collect all your gems or items from killing mobs and that there mostly empty. Lastly, be repaired, have some food/water, blare some music, and have fun!
- To get to Deepholm just take the port in your faction's major city. Once in Deepholm, start on the route I put on my map or unhide the route I've given you with my custom Routes addon. To get these preloaded routes, head over to the "How to Get Tarou's Best Custom Routes for Mining, Herbalism, & Mining/Herb Combo!" guide.
- Alight so, as usual I'll be spending 30 minutes on this route to give you a good idea of what you can expect to mine up from Deepholm. This route is kinda interesting because it sort of counters a lot of competition by being very unconventional and lacks predictability. It's small but, usually works out well. I do however prefer my medium length route when farming for long periods of time. Pretty much anything over an hour and I'll use my medium length route unless the competition is zero. My long route I use when I'm farming for a long time and have excessive competition. You won't find any Pyrite in Deepholm but, rich veins can net some really nice Volatile amounts if you're lucky. I wasn't super lucky but on a better day it can be pretty awesome.
This first route is the longest and I typically use this when competition is high and I'm farming for a long period of time.
- This second one is the shortest and very nice when you have no competition or minimal competition and are farming for less than an hour.
- This last one is right in the middle of those two. It's not too long but long enough to help with competition. I like to use this one when I'm farming for over an hour.
- I typically use my small route to start and extend it if I'm not finding ore like I should be. I used the long route for this video because the zone is normally packed with Miners. The short and mid one seem to work best anytime between midnight and two in the afternoon. Anytime after that the long one seems to be best for my server. Try them all out on your server at certain times to see what will work best.
- As for mob aggro, not many nodes are close to mobs. Just a few and if you're level 85, you shouldn't even pull aggro. As always though, remember if you do have to fight a mob, CC it, loot the node, and then kill it so you don't have to worry about anyone coming along and stealing your node. Other classes like Hunters and Rogues can CC, loot, and slighty run away while feigning death or vanishing to lose aggro. Be creative with your class since others have different options for losing aggro easily. If you're geared, quickly killing the mobs is of course another option.
- Deepholm seems to have people farming at all hours but I still find the morning and late night to be the least competitive. You can always farm while waiting for a slot in a raid to see if raid times like 7pm to 10pm are low on competition. That's pretty much how it is on my server. I run into very few people farming during raid times even though that is when the server has the most people logged in. Weekends are almost always out of the question unless it's like 3am or something. Anyways, test different times on your server and see which is best for you and your play time.
WoW Mining Gold Making Guide EP3: Deepholm - Best Routes | Mining Totals/Recap/Suggestions
- Ok so, my 30 minutes are up and let's see how I did. I was able to get 73 Obsidium Ore, 85 Elementium, and a decent amount of Volatiles. I'll put everything on the Auction House for 12 hours undercutting any competition.
Mining - Deepholm:
Obsidium Ore x 73 = 87.6g (1.2g ea.)
Elementium Ore x 85 = 153g (1.8g ea.)
Volatile Earth x 12 = 46.8g (3.9g ea.)
Volatile Water x 8 = 71.2g (8.9g ea.)
Volatile Fire x 1 = 12g (12g ea.)
Carnelian x 2 = 19.8g (9.9g ea.)
------------------------------------
Total = 390.4g in 30 minutes
or 780.8g in one hour. - It took about three hours to sell everything and my total for the 30 minutes session was 390.4g or 780.8g per hour. Which completely fails for gold per hour with Mining making Deepholm one of the worst zones. But, wait that's not really true since I pulled in about double on average every other time before. I just call this a bad luck run and expect better results the next time around.
- Also, keep in mind these are prices for my server so to see how yours would of done, check the Auction House and plug in the prices. I did have about seven people mining so expect better numbers if you're alone in the zone. You can also try and get a little more out of it by smelting bars if they're more gold. Especially check Hardened Elementium Bars since they seem to make a profit by just buying the mats and smelting them. Especially as of Patch 4.1.
- The best classes to use for farming are Paladin and Druid. Deathknights can be good too if spec'd with the 20% mount speed buff as well along with other classes for different reasons like vanish from a Rogue or Feign Death from a Hunter. Herbalism or Engineering are the best professions to go with Mining. It's also ideal to have 310% flying. If you have any questions, ask away in the comments.
- Well, that's it for the third video of my Mining Gold Making Series EP3 - "Deepholm" and I hope you liked it. Some luck is involved with Mining and it may take you a few tries to get use to a new route. Don't be afraid to switch things up and find what zone and path works best for you. And like I've said in just about every video, farming doesn't have to suck. Make it more fun by talking with friends on vent or IRL, blaring some music, watching TV, combine with Dailys, or do whatever is fun for you.
