WoW Leatherworking Gold Guide - Patch 3.3.5

Below is an overview video and detailed walk-through on how to easily make gold with Leatherworking in Patch 3.3.5. As shown in the video, I spent 20minutes making and listing items that sold for a total of 2,664g minus 1,740g in mats for a total of 924g profit! Leatherworking is one of the simplest, easiest professions to make gold with that typically has low competition. Please enjoy this Leatherworking Gold Making Guide for Patch 3.3.5.
- Check out my Leatherworking Leveling 1-525 Guide for a great way to level Leatherworking.
- WoW Leatherworking Gold Guide Overview - Purchase Leatherworking materials and sell various common, rare, and epic items. Estimated daily time spent: 15~20minutes.
WoW Leatherworking Gold Guide - Patch 3.3.5: Getting Started
- Through weeks of testing I've found epic leg enchants, bags, drums, iLvl 226 epics, and iLvl 245 epics to have the best profit and sell rate. You can ofcourse experiment with iLvl 200 epics and other items but I've found them to not sell well, if at all, in Patch 3.3.5.
- To start off, you'll want to check the Auction House for the best Leatherworking item sellers and get a rough idea of what the mats will cost to make the items. During my testing, I found these to be the best sellers but your server may be different, so adjust if need be. Tip: Anything that requires [Heavy Borean Leather], try checking the price of [Borean Leather] and seeing if it's cheaper to make the [Heavy Borean Leather] yourself.
Best Sellers:
[Frosthide Leg Armor]
(Tip: Have a decent stock of these for Tuesdays/Wednesdays.)
[Icescale Leg Armor]
(Tip: Have a decent stock of these for Tuesdays/Wednesdays.)
[Earthen Leg Armor]
(Tip: Have a decent stock of these for Tuesdays/Wednesdays.)
[Bracers of Swift Death] - Buy pattern off AH for around 200~300g
[Bracers of Swift Death] - Buy pattern off AH for around 200~300g
[Footpads of Silence] - Buy pattern off AH for around 100~200g
[Death-warmed Belt] - Buy pattern off AH for around 100~200g
[Mammoth Mining Bag] - Buy pattern in The Storm Peaks from Lillehofffor 5g or so.
Requires Honored Rep Level.
[Nerubian Reinforced Quiver] - Buy pattern in Icecrown from Duchess Mynxfor 5g or so.
Requires Honored Rep Level.
[Drums of the Wild] - Trainer (450 Skill Level)
(Tip: Have a decent stock of these for Tuesdays/Wednesdays.)
[Drums of Forgotten Kings] - Trainer (450 Skill Level)
(Tip: Have a decent stock of these for Tuesdays/Wednesdays.) - Frost Hide Leg Armor had the best markup so I went with it over the other epic leg armors. To make them, I'll need two [Arctic Fur] which are 55 gold or so each. I can also trade 10 Heavy Borean Leather for an [Arctic Fur] at the trader in Dalaran for about 4-5g cheaper so, that's what I'll do. It pays to always check which way is cheaper. You can also message the sellers directly and try to buy from them in bulk to get an even better deal.
- Next, I'll check the materials for the epic 226, 245 leather pieces. Since [Crusader Orbs] and [Runed Orbs] are pretty expensive on the Auction House and [Frozen Orbs] were only 20g each, I'll use the cheap [Frozen Orbs] and trade them for [Crusader Orbs] and [Runed Orbs] with Frozo the Renowned
in Dalaran.
Making gold with Leatherworking is pretty simple and doesn't require much time to do at all. It's one of those professions that isn't high in popularity and therefore usually has low competition. It's also very basic and you only need to spend about 15-20 minutes crafting the items and listing them. On top of that, it doesn't take more than a few hundred gold to get started. This guide will show the average max and your server may do better or worse depending on its economy.
WoW Leatherworking Gold Guide - Patch 3.3.5: Listing/Selling Items & Profit
- After getting together all the mats, it's time to make the items and list them on the Auction House. Since Leatherworking doesn't have a lot of items to sell, you don't really need any addons but, using an auction type addon like Auctioneer or Auctionator can be helpful. For most Leatherworking items, I like to list them for 12 or 24 hours and undercut any competition. You'll also notice I don't list items for an insane amount even if there isn't competition. I have a general idea what the people on my server are willing to pay and I'm not gonna try to gouge them.
- Alright, it's time to collect the gold from my mailbox. Not too bad, 2,664g net minus 1,740g material costs equals 924g in profit with just 20 minutes worth of effort. None of the iLvl226 or iLvl245 pieces sold is this video but, they did all sell a few days later. I could've also done with out the epic leg enchants as the profit margin didn't work out to be very much at all. All in all though, Leatherworking is a nice, laid back profession that doesn't require much to maintain. You may not make insane amounts of gold but, you also won't likely have as many headaches as some other professions. And 924g in 20minutes is pretty sick in my opinion but, you can let me know what you think in the comment section below.

WoW Leatherworking Gold Making Guide: Final Suggestions and Tips
- Once you get the hang of how much you sell begin purchasing mats during the weekend; they are typically the cheapest on the weekend.
The main reason for this is most players aren't actually raiding on the weekends and have a lot more time to gather mats. With the abundance of mats comes the simple economic rule of supply exceeding demand, which leads to lower prices. This doesn't mean 100% of the time they will be cheaper on the weekend, but instead it makes it more likely. After you get a feel for mat prices you can purchase them throughout the week for the lowest prices.
- Checking on mats everyday will get you familar with who sells what.
Pay attention and take a look at who is selling mats all the time and message them to sell directly to you at a discount. This will save you big on the craft costs. I have countless farmers listed on my friends list who I deal with regularly to get the cheapest price possible.
- Finally, World of Warcraft isn't just about making gold and really should be the smallest part of your playtime.
I hope this guide will help you get rich in World of Warcraft but at the same time free up farm time so you can actually enjoy the game for what it is meant to be; fun! So, don't sit at your computer 24-7 just to make gold. Go out, raid, PvP, whatever, just make sure to have fun (^_^)v.
Good luck and I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please make a post on our forums or below in the comment section.
