WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1
Below is an overview video and detailed walkthrough on how to use Jewelcrafting to make a good amount of gold everyday. As shown in the video, this made me around 650g+ a day. As of patch 3.3.3 gems and Enchanting materials have had significant changes since this Jewelcrafting Gold Guide was made so make sure to test your server's economy first before sinking a lot of gold into this. Materials have dropped as well so this is still profitable on my server.
- Check out my Jewelcrafting Leveling 1-450 Guide for a great way to level Jewelcrafting.
- WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Overview - Prospect 1000g in saronite ore, disenchant 60 Shadowmight Rings, and list them on the Auction House. Estimated time to do this everyday: 1 hour.
WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Materials and Prospecting
- First, you'll want to buy some saronite ore.
The Auction House typically has decent prices but you can always find it cheaper by scimming trade chat for farmers. - Now that you have your mats you can begin Prospecting everything.
To make things easier I have listed a macro below for Prospecting. Before using this macro go into your interface, select controls, and check autoloot. This will autoloot the items into your bag.

WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Popular Gem Cuts
- Once you have prospected all of your saronite ore, you can begin cutting gems.
I suggest cutting whichever gems are the most popular first. This typically includes:
[Runed Scarlet Ruby](red)
[Bold Scarlet Ruby](red)
[Delicate Scarlet Ruby](red)
[Regal Twilight Opal](purple)
[Royal Twilight Opal](purple)
[Rigid Autumn's Glow](yellow)
[Smooth Autumn's Glow] (yellow)
[Mystic Autumn's Glow] (yellow)
[Glinting Monarch Topaz](orange)
[Potent Monarch Topaz](orange)
[Veiling Monarch Topaz](orange)
[Solid Sky Sapphire](blue)
[Steady Forest Emerald](green)
[Jagged Forest Emerald](green)
[Enduring Forest Emerald](green) - If you don't have the designs you can purchase them with Dalaran Jewelcrafter's Tokens.
You can obtain these tokens by completing the Jewelcrafting daily found in Dalaran in the Magus Commerce Exchange at the Jewelcrafter Trainer, Timothy Jones. The upside is the daily only takes about 10minutes to complete while the downside is you can only get one token per day through the daily; meaning 3 days per design! An alternative, which is expensive, can be to purchase a Damaged Necklace. These can range a lot in price but are generally around 150-200g on my server (Note: Expect this to go up in patch 3.2). I recommend just purchasing the Damaged Necklaces to quickly be able to cut the gems.
- If you don't have enough gold to buy the Damaged Necklaces, or the time to get the Dalaran Jewelcrafter's Tokens, you can also just sell the raw gems on the Auction House.
WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Auctioning Gems
- Now that you have cut all of your gems the next step is to list them on the Auction House; for gems I don't suggest selling them in trade but you can try it out on your server (I don't suggest it because it's time consuming).
For gems, I recommend listing them for only 24 hours. Depending on how popular your server is, you may or may not have a lot of competition. Still, remember to undercut all competition by about one silver; anything more is overkill.
WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Crafting and Disenchanting Jewelry
- The next item to craft for making gold is Shadowmight Rings.
You're going to need to buy one eternal earth and one eternal shadow for each Shadowmight Ring you wish to make.
- Once you have purchased all of your eternals get them from the mailbox and begin crafting Shadowmight Rings.
- Next, ask a friend, or find someone in the trade channel, to disenchant all the rings you just crafted. Depending on the amount of rings, I typically tip around 20-50g.
WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Auctioning Enchanting Materials
- Now that you have disenchanted all of your gems the final step is to list them on the Auction House; for enchanting mats I don't suggest selling them in trade but you can try it out on your server (I don't suggest it because it's time consuming).
For enchanting, I recommend listing them for only 24 hours. Depending on how popular your server is, you may or may not have a lot of competition. Still, remember to undercut all competition by about one silver; anything more is overkill.
WoW Jewelcrafting Gold Guide Part 1: Final Suggestions and Tips
- For gems and enchanting mats, there doesn't seem to be any peak time.
However, most players log on from 6pm-8pm during the week, and the weekend is pretty spread out from 2pm-8pm.
- Tuesday seems to be the peak day for gem and enchanting mats sales.
This is most likely due to the fact people typically gear up on Tuesday for the week's PvE and PvP content. New PvP gear from Arena points etc.
- Once you get the hang of how much you sell begin purchasing mats during the weekend; they are typically the cheapest on the weekend.
The main reason for this, is most players aren't actually raiding on the weekends and have a lot more time to gather mats. With the abundance of mats comes the simple economic rule of supply exceeding demand which leads to lower prices. This doesn't mean 100% of the time they will be cheaper on the weekend but instead it makes it more likely. After you get a feel for mat prices you can purchase them throughout the week for the lowest prices.
- Checking on mats everyday will get you familar with who sells what.
Pay attention and take a look at who is selling mats all the time and message them to sell directly to you at a discount. This will save you big on the craft costs. I have countless farmers listed on my friend's list who I deal with regularly to get the cheapest price possible.
- Finally, World of Warcraft isn't just about making gold and really should be the smallest part of your playtime.
I hope this guide will help you get rich in World of Warcraft but at the same time free up farm time so you can actually enjoy the game for what it is meant to be; fun! So, don't sit at your computer 24-7 just to make gold. Go out, raid, PvP, whatever, just make sure to have fun (^_^)v.
Good luck and I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please make a post on our forums.

replay :P
You are amazing dude! :D
But i don't allways have money to dget mats :(
Found a useful site!
I found a site that tells me whether or not it is profitable to prospect ore. It seems to work rather well and I can often times make some good gold just prospecting ore when it tells me to. Check it out! http://www.wowprospector.com
Dont forget about the low
Dont forget about the low level NR recipes that use the uncommon gems. One gem and 2 crystallized earth come out to about 2g tops to make on my server and disenchant into essence and dust. A lot cheaper to make than shadowmight rings and goes well with prospecting saronite.
My server
Hello,
I recently lvled up JC loosing around 5k gold since then i have not been able to make it back using these guides i have found on my server(frostmourne) things are over priced for instance buying a stack of titanium ore is 250g and 1 cut epic gem is only worth 130g is there any other ways to make money with cheap mats
Just an F.Y.I titanium ore is
Just an F.Y.I titanium ore is expensive on all server due to the lack of supply, seeing as its a uncommon ore.(unless your a botter)
If you are unable to earn
If you are unable to earn money then you have not paid enough attention to the guides. First of all you should start doing the jewelcrafting dailies and invest in popular cuts like Brilliant King's Amber, Rigid King's Amber, Smooth King's Amber, Runed Cardinal Ruby, Bright Cardinal Ruby, Bold Cardinal Ruby[/ib], Accurate Ametrine, [b]Fierce Ametrine, Reckless Ametrine, Dazzling Eye of Zul, Enduring Eye of Zul, Seer's Eye of Zul, Royal Dreadstone, Purified Dreadstone, Chaotic Skyflare Diamond, Ember Skyflare Diamond, Insightful Earthsiege Diamond among many others. The ones in bold are usually the most popular but it depends on server. These should all sell, however.
You should also have an "investment" budget of say, 100g if you are really cheap (mine depends on how the prices and can stretch over 5000g one day) which is used to invest into items worth reselling. If gems sell poorly on your server, a good tactic is to buy them cheap and resell them high. On most servers 180g for epic cuts should be very reasonable and people are going to buy them. However, this is not a viable tactic just now because you only got 100g to spend, so that is probably best spent on an uncut epic gem, which should be below the buyout price of cuts. Even if the BO price of epic gems is 100g, you would still make a profit of roughly 30g if you resell it cut on the auction house. If you now do this with 3 gems, you earned 90g, if you do it with 6, 180g. It's about seeing it long-term. I sometimes buyout a lot of gems cheap and resell them slowly during the week as to not flood the market. Market flooding is one of the worst things that can ruin your economy. Never sell items below the BO price of the raw material cost. If you see people who undercut you, let them be and let them ruin themselves for being stupid and undercutting say, Enduring Eye of Zul for 98g BO when I know they can easily sell for 150g. At the end of the week, usually Mondays (I play on EU so server reset during Wednesdays), there are few to no items on the AH and the items that are up are terribly undercut by people who kept undercutting during the week. If you see 3 Enduring Eye of Zul for 80g BO, buy them out and resell them on the server reset day for the double. If people undercut you don't bother, it is THEIR financial loss, not yours. It is smart to let these items be up at least 24h, as a lot of raiders buy new gems after the raid or the day after.
Also, extend your market and don't niche yourself. Even though I only work with the jewelcrafting and leatherworking market, I do check the prices for all of the gem types regularly. Not only does it give you a clue what items usually sell for, if it turns out that one gem type is flooded that particular week, why not go for another type? One week maybe Cardinal Rubies go for 150g BO and definitely not worth buying out, but if checking out Eye of Zul or Dreadstones, it turns out they sell for 90g. At further investigation, it also turns out that maybe there are only 2 Royal Dreadstones up on the AH all selling for 130g this week. I would thus buy out a couple of Dreadstones, buyout the Royal ones, resell those and cut the Dreadstones I bought into Royal and sell those as well for a much higher price, say 170g because I know that's reasonable for Royals. It's about paying attention where the demand lies and be quick to respond to it.
