WoW Herbalism Gold Guide
Below is an overview video and detailed walkthrough on how to easily make gold with Herbalism by following some simple routes in popular Northrend zones. I'll be spending 30 minutes farming and comparing the four top Northrend Herbalism zones, Icecrown, Sholazar Basin, Wintergrasp, and Storm Peaks.
- Check out my Herbalism Leveling 1-450 Guide for a great way to level Herbalism.
- WoW Herbalism Gold Guide Overview: Finding the best Herbalism routes and zones to farm.
- Requirements: Herbalism skill level 450 or 445 if your gloves are enchanted with [Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism]
- Suggestions: PvP gear, epic flyer, potions, and food/water.
Addons: Gatherer
WoW Herbalism Gold Guide: Icecrown - Herbalism farming route.
- The first place I will be looking at is Icecrown. Icecrown was fairly decent but nodes were very spread out. A lot of them were also in the middle of clumps of mobs or elites making them extra difficult to get. The competition wasn't too high but enough to notice.
- You may also notice mining nodes disappearing without anyone around. This is because hackers are mining underneath the zone and appear to be invisible. To report them, open your combat log and it will display their name when they mine invisibly in front of you. Most of the time they are doing this on lower level characters so you can also check by typing "/who Sholazar Basin" and looking for a level 70 or any level that doesn't seem to fit the zone.
- I farmed Icecrown following the route pictured below for 30 minutes. Spawn times were good and I ended up with 216g worth of materials.
- Items farmed in 30minutes from Icecrown Herbalism route:
[Frost Lotus] x 3
Total approximate value - 216g
[Eternal Life] x 1.8
[Icethorn] x 35
[Lichbloom] x 52
WoW Herbalism Gold Guide: Sholazar Basin - Herbalism farming route.
- Sholazar Basin is the haven for all gathering professions with easy to navigate terrain and low mob encounters. You will have to be prepared for some PvP unless on a PvE server. I suggest wearing your PvP gear and bringing some potions along.
- You may also notice herb nodes disappearing without anyone around. This is because hackers are herb'ing underneath the zone and appear to be invisible. To report them, open your combat log and it will display their name when they herb invisibly in front of you. Most of the time they are doing this on lower level characters so you can also check by typing "/who Sholazar Basin" and looking for a level 70 or any level that doesn't seem to fit the zone.
- I farmed Sholazar Basin following the route pictured below for 30 minutes. The route was stress free and was extremely smooth. Spawn times were great with tons of nodes everywhere and I ended up with 236g worth of materials.
- Items farmed in 30minutes from Sholazar Basin Herbalism route:
[Frost Lotus] x 3
Total approximate value - 236g
[Eternal Life] x 2
[Adder's Tongue] x 87
[Deadnettle] x 11
[Tiger Lily] x 27
[Goldclover] x 29
WoW Herbalism Gold Guide: Wintergrasp - Herbalism farming route.
- It doesn't matter whether your faction holds the zone or not, but its best if a battle isn't going on so you can easily fly from node to node. Plus you don't want to be in a battle-zone and useless to your faction-mates. What's really nice about this zone is there are specific Frost Lotus nodes, even elevation, and the route I made is very simple. The downside to this zone was the competition was higher than any other zone and there were a huge amount of hackers. I noticed about four. Just as Sholazar Basin I suggest wearing PvP gear, bringing potions, and any sort of stun devices you may have. Even with the extra competition and hackers, the zone proved to be awesome and netted me about 326g in herbs.
- Items farmed in 30minutes from Wintergrasp Herbalism route:
[Frost Lotus] x 6
Total approximate value - 326g
[Eternal Life] x 2.1
[Icethorn] x 39
[Lichbloom] x 37
[Deadnettle] x 5
[Tiger Lily] x 15
[Goldclover] x 36
WoW Herbalism Gold Guide: Storm Peaks - Herbalism farming route.
- Storm Peaks was very nice for farming herbs since I didn't notice any competition or hackers. The herb nodes were also plentiful and if it weren't for the bad luck of getting only one [Frost Lotus], I think it would have been almost as good as Wintergrasp. It's also a great place for farming before an Ulduar raid, a Heroic to start, or if want to farm for the [Reins of the Time-Lost Proto Drake].
Here is a macro to help you get the drake.
/tar Dirkee
/tar Vyra
/tar Time
/stopmacro [noexists]
/tell YOURNAMEHERE > %t < - I was very happy with the zone and in 30 minutes was able to farm 236g in herbs.
- Items mined in 30minutes from Storm Peaks Herbalism route:
[Frost Lotus] x 1
Total approximate value - 236g
[Eternal Life] x 3
[Icethorn] x 66
[Lichbloom] x 64
WoW Herbalism Gold Guide: Final Thoughts.
- Some luck is involved with Herbalism so every zone was pretty close in node count except for Icecrown. Wintergrasp though overall was better since their were specific [Frost Lotus] nodes, a simple route, and a great way to kill time just before a battle begins. Like I've said in other videos and guides, farming doesn't have to suck. While you're waiting on WG to begin, heading to ToC, or waiting for friends to log in, hit up a few nodes. Doing dailys? Then why not grab some herbs while you do them. I'm really big on multi-tasking and Herbalism can be combined with a lot of others things you do already in WoW.
Good luck and I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please make a post on our forums.
