WoW Blacksmithing Gold Making Guide Part 2 - Patch 3.3.5-4.0!
This is an overview video and detailed walkthrough on how to easily make gold with Blacksmithing in Patch 3.3.5. As shown in the video, this made me 11,010g in net sales with a profit of 4,221g in a few days! This Blacksmithing Gold Making Guide P2 is good even if you don't have a lot of startup gold. However, don't spend everything you have. Different servers have different economies so it's best to always start by testing the waters before sinking in a lot of gold into anything.
- WoW Blacksmithing Gold Making Guide P2: Overview - Get Blacksmithing mats, make low cost items, list on the Auction House, and collect gold.
- Check out my Blacksmithing Leveling 1-450 Guide for a great way to level Blacksmithing.
WoW Blacksmithing Gold Guide: Starting Out - Materials and Crafting
- First, gather some Blacksmithing mats.
There are three ways that I use to get Blacksmithing mats. I either purchase them from the Auction House or another player if they're cheap, or I farm them. If you want tips for farming Blacksmithing mats check out my Mining Gold Guide Part 1, Mining Gold Guide Part 2, for some tips.
- Once you get all your mats together, you can start making the different items. I'll start with some typical high level items like Eternal Belt Buckles and a few Titanium Weapon Chains and Shield Spikes. I've found the Titanium Weapon Chains to do the best so I'd suggest not even bothering with the Titanium Shield Spikes if you don't have the extra gold to spare or the profit margin is too small on your server.
- I'll then move on to some Enchanting rods which can be extremely profitable and even if you have low Blacksmithing and are a low level, you can still make some gold here pretty easily. Just to give you an idea, an Adamantite Rod costs about 35g to make and netted 104g or 69g in profit. Enchanting rods usually have low competition as well.
- Next, I'll make iLvl 226 and 245 epics. iLvl264 epics are pretty good too depending on how cheap Primordial Saronite and how large of a profit margin there is on your server. If you have those plans and the gold to spare, I'd make some of those as well. I'll also be making the Titansteel Destroyer, Tempered Titansteel Helm, and Tempered Titansteel Treads. Even though they are only iLvl200 they still have a semi-decent demand and profit margin making them worth making if you have spare gold. I'd still be a bit careful with making them though since we are getting close to Cataclysm and their currently taking a few days to sell. All epics have a fairly decent profit margin as long as you get mats for decent prices. If you have Mining, sometimes you can save big by smelting your own bars especially Titansteel. Another trick to save some gold on mats is if Frozen Orbs are cheap on your server, trade them in Dalaran for Crusader and Runed Orbs. If none of that is an option for you and mat prices are too high, be patient, directly message a player who's selling them and try to haggle a bit, spam trade, or watch trade once in awhile for good deals.
WoW Blacksmithing Gold Making Guide P2: Auctioning Items/Final Results
- Alright, so I have everything made and it's time to list the items. My server has tons of competition so I like to list the items with a one silver undercut for 12 hours. The idea here is to be the first to show up on the AH search page without driving the price down rediculously. If you're just sitting around in Orgrimmar or Stormwind between raids and PvP'ing, you can also spam trade to get rid of some of the items a bit faster. I use Auctioneer to list items and you can find a guide on the addon here.
- Alright, so it's been a few days and most everything sold so time to break the numbers down and see how I made out.

= 4,221g - Total profit with just a few hours of effort. - Blacksmithing really is a good profession that can be a bit slow seeming at times but really pays to have it especially going into Cataclysm since it's likely to have the first epics for all classes. Make sure that if you try anything in this guide, you take it easy at first and build your way up to your server's maximum demand. For anyone tight on gold, you'll want to start with cheap items like rods and Eternal Belt Buckles before moving on to anything expensive.
WoW Blacksmithing Gold Making Guide Part 2: Final Suggestions and Tips
- Once you get the hang of how much you sell begin purchasing mats during the weekend; they are typically the cheapest on the weekend.
The main reason for this, is most players aren't actually raiding on the weekends and have a lot more time to gather mats. With the abundance of mats comes the simple economic rule of supply exceeding demand which leads to lower prices. This doesn't mean 100% of the time they will be cheaper on the weekend but instead it makes it more likely. After you get a feel for mat prices you can purchase them throughout the week for the lowest prices.
- Checking on mats everyday will get you familar with who sells what.
Pay attention and take a look at who is selling mats all the time and message them to sell directly to you at a discount. This will save you big on the craft costs. I have countless farmers listed on my friend's list who I deal with regularly to get the cheapest price possible.
- Finally, World of Warcraft isn't just about making gold and really should be the smallest part of your playtime.
I hope this guide will help you get rich in World of Warcraft but at the same time free up farm time so you can actually enjoy the game for what it is meant to be; fun! So, don't sit at your computer 24-7 just to make gold. Go out, raid, PvP, whatever, just make sure to have fun (^_^)v.
Good luck and I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please post them below the YouTube video, in the comments, or make a post on our forums.
