Tarou's Weekly WoW Report Episode 20! 9/05/2010 | Auction House/Cata Beta News!

    Tarou's WoW Blog SQ

This is my first video release on the Machinima Respawn channel so I want to take a second to introduce myself. For those of you who don't know, I make World of Warcraft guides for all aspects of the game including Raiding, Boomkin DPS, Random Guides, and am best known for Profession Leveling and Gold Making Guides with the overall goal to make the game more fun for everyone without wasting your life doing tedious tasks. I play all kinds of games like Starcraft, Warcraft, COD3,4, Modern Warfare 2, old school Quake, and tons of others. Being use to fast paced games and then getting into an MMO like WoW taught me how to bypass a lot of the extra work, using less effort, while making it a blast. I already have a very strong and awesome subscriber fan base and would like to add players from Machinima as well so I can help more players have more fun without all that extra time-consumption while still getting rich or comfortable gold wise. That being said, welcome new viewers and if you want to check out my older videos and guides, please check the navigation to left. Thank you and now for this week's WoW Report.

  • In Auction House news, prices continue to be all over the place but high level epics and their materials are really starting to slide. Week over week prices have been dropping 10% or more and should continue the down trend for the time being. Gathering professions are still holding fairly strong and should do so for the remainder of the Wrath expansion with a bit of an increase as we get closer to Cataclysm and more and more players start leveling their alts' professions.
  • In Cataclysm beta news, a few interesting upgrades were made to the launcher and the streaming process has been updated. It looks a lot cleaner and provides clear information of what point you are installing important files, when you can play, and when it's fully complete. If you decide to login while it's still updating you may notice a circle below your mini-map indicating you're streaming content.

  • Checking out other Cataclysm Beta news, some more screenshots and zones were released throughout the past week and they all look very cool. I had some free time and decided to actually show you two zones that were just opened up, Uldum and Twilight Highlands. Uldum is quite an amazing looking zone with a surprisingly beautiful desert landscape filled with Titan lore and Egyptian style architecture. Breadcrumbs come from Deepholm and quests start in southwestern Tanaris at the caravan. You'll likely quest here from levels 83-84. After Uldum players will probably move on to Twilight Highlands and finish up getting to level 85. This area is very important for Deathwing and is packed with quests, heroics, raids, and PvP. Should be an interesting grind.

  • Moving on to other Cataclysm beta news, the new Glyph pane has finally been added along with the new Glyph features discussed a little back. From now on, once you buy a Glyph, you will no longer have to ever buy it again. You can switch Glyphs in and out as long as you've learned them. Now Inscribers I know what you're thinking, "How am I suppose to make gold with Inscription now?" Well from a sneak peak at the new items you can make tells me that you'll make plenty of gold in a less frustrating way. Inscription will have new Relic recipes, be able to make recipes for other professions, new Darkmoon cards, among tons of other items. On top of that, I can almost bet most players will not buy a few Glyphs like they do now but instead buy every single one for their class regardless if they will use it or not. Most players can't stand something being incomplete and I'm one of them.

  • Alright, checking out some other Cataclysm beta news, some people had been asking to see the Guild levels so here they are. There are 25 so far consisting of many different upgrades from increased rep, increased experience, increased mount speed, reduced hearthstone cooldown, decreased durability loss, increased farming, a summon all party & raid members ability, as well as rez all party & raid members ability. On top of that, increased flask cauldron flasks, and increased duration on all cauldron and feast buffs along with some other cool abilities that are unlocked as you level your guild. Rewards for guild reputation was also added to the guild vendor but were quickly removed after a new beta build was launched. I'm honestly not sure why but it did give an idea of what you could get. Helm and Cloak 1-85 leveling heirloom items were added and I was able to snag a few before they disappeared. There were also some guild mounts including a Thunder Lizard which could be this one right here, a Dark Pheonix, and now a Scorpion. Who knows what the end result will be but I'm excited to find out when Cata goes live. Anyone unguilded may want to start looking for a guild before Cata launches if they want access to these rewards. LFG?
  • Adding to more guild goodness, a new roster pane has been added to include some different views. One of them will surely stir up competition and seperate the least helpful from the most helpful. This view shows who has contributed the most to guild and I can already see gkicks, raid spots, and loot distribution being based off these numbers. Sorry *insert random player name here*, you haven't done jack to help the guild and you want us to let you have this Legendary? Yeah, not happening.
  • These views even get better. You'll now be able to see who has what professions and what skill level they have. It gets better than even that though, you'll also be able to search their profession book and see if they can make that epic pattern or gem you need. Wow, talk about not needing to ask in guild or link your profession to a million people a day. This is great for both sides.
  • Keep in mind tons of details and numbers are still being ironed out and anything can change before the final Cataclysm expac ships.

Tarou's Weekly WoW Report Episode 20! 9/05/2010 | Q & A Session

  • I'd like to end this Tarou Weekly WoW Report answering a few questions you guys and girls have asked me over the last week.
  • Q1. What do Onyxia and Nefarian look like in Cataclysm?

A1. They look pretty awesome if you ask me. Here are their current models and they may change before Cataclysm ships.

  • Q2. Can you show us the new mounts and pets in Cataclysm?

A2. I'm not able to model all of them but here is an armadillo and I don't know where it's from, Dark Pheonix Hatchling which is a guild reward pet, Raptor Skeleton which I'd guess is from Archaelogy, and quite possibly the most interesting, a Crawling Hand Pet that can actually play paper, rock, scissors. No joke. I guess I know what I'm doing when bored after a wipe. For mounts we have the Dark Pheonix which is a guild reward, a Camel which I'm going to speculate is from Tol'vir rep in Uldum somewhat similar to getting a Talbuk, and a Raptor Skeleton mount which I'm going to guess is from Archaelogy. We also have Goblin Trike mounts that are pretty cool looking. Some other mounts have been discovered as well and I should have models for those soon.

  • Q3. Did Blizzard increase the Character slots beyond 10?

A3. As of right now, they have not BUT! sometimes you can see at the end of the character selection screen there are up and down arrows leading me to believe adding the extra slots would be fairly easy since it's already implemented. They even asked for feedback on the forums about the idea. I suspect though there will be a fee for it but it's better than not getting it at all I suppose.

  • Q4. Will any old school raids be removed?

A4. This is actually an old question but at the time I didn't have an answer. Well, now I do. It looks like Zul'Gurub will be removed according to a blue post and that could also mean the Tiger and Raptor mounts will be forever gone or not, who knows. Either way, if you want those mounts, get a friend or solo farm ZG every lockout (3days or shorter - check your calendar) until they drop. Good luck to all.
