Tarou's Weekly WoW Report Episode 18! 8/22/2010 | Auction House & Cataclysm Beta News!

    Tarou's WoW Blog SQ

Taking a look at Auction House news, some interesting price changes have been going on that I'm sure most servers are noticing. Huge up and downs on most mats while people try to figure out where things are going to end up in the weeks to come. Epics have been up and down as well but overall are losing pricing ground as Primordial Saronites have lost more than 40% of their value since Patch 3.3.5 went live and tons of PuGs are clearing up to atleast Lich King with even taking on some Heroic modes. Primordial Saronite has seen some relief and appears to be holding steady for the time being but you should expect the decline to continue as we get closer and closer to Cataclysm releasing.

  • In Cataclysm Beta news, some more screenshots were released throughout the past week and they all look very nice especially the buring Goblin area. It's so far one of my favorite starting zones ever and almosts looks as if it's a completely different game.

  • Moving on to other Cataclysm news, a new page featuring a very nice Q&A about all the new changes to the Darkshore is out. The Q&A covers everything from what levels the zone covers, what were the major changes, how did they come up with the concept, and many other key points to the Darkshore zone. A great read for anyone who's interested in zone design and Darkshore.

  • Checking out some viewer requested topics for the Cataclysm Beta, I got a storm of questions about different classes and there are tons of changes out in the latest build. It looks like tons of range spells that were 30 or 35 yards have been increased to 40 yards, some classes had their talents moved from tier 2 to tier 1, and just to highlight some neat looking changes per class, Death Knights nothing to special but Unholy spec no longer requires Corpse Dust for Raise Dead. Balance Druids get to play with some new Thorns that only last 20 seconds but deal 447 base damage compared to 32. Resto Druids will now be able to talent a remove magic debuff. Survival Hunters get a cool Camouflage ability that makes them untargetable. Mages had a Glyph renamed from Bear Cub to Monkey, woohoo. Holy Paladins some talent position changes. Holy Priests had some talents completely scrapped like Heavenly Voice and Binding Prayers, and some new ones added which all seem to be based on or use Chastise. Some change the spell from a damage ability to a healing ability. Sub Rogues had Serrated Blades buffed from 6/12% to 10/20%. Elemental Shamans are getting some more love with a few new talents which both deal with Lightning Shield. Fulmination will Earth Shock to consume Lightning Shield charges and instantly deal their total damage to the target. Rolling Thunder will have a chance to give some mana and charges back to Lightning Shield. Demo Warlocks now summon pets in 6 seconds down from 10. And Warriors, well you got forgotten in this build had nothing changed. That could be a good thing as nerfs rolled out on a lot of abilities for almost every class. Expect the buffs, nerfs, and complete removals and new spell additions to continue as the beta testing continues.
  • Keep in mind tons of details and numbers are still being ironed out and anything can change before the final Cataclysm expac ships.

Tarou's Weekly WoW Report Episode 18! 8/22/2010 | Blizzard News / Q & A Session

  • If you still haven't been invited, their are contests going on, on a lot of websites like I mentioned last week and I found yet another one on warcry.com. They are giving away 50 keys for answering some trivia questions.
  • That's not the only contest going on though. Blizzard along with NBC's "The Event" have a sweepstakes where you can win a pair of tickets to Blizzcon. Sweepstakes ends August 31st and you enter on the Blizzcon page.
  • In other Blizzard news, the Cataclysm Collector's Edition has been revealed and is packed with all kinds of goodies including, a behind-the-scenes DVD, a soundtrack, a 176 page art book, a trading card game starter set, a Cataclysm Mousepad, and my favorite, an exclusive in-game Deathwing companion pet. The Collector's Edition will have a limited-release and retail for $79.99.

  • Finally, I'd like to end this Tarou Weekly WoW Report answering a few questions you guys and girls have asked me over the last week.
  • Q1. I'm a low level, how do I make gold?

A1. Well, you can check my website for my lowbie gold making guides and see if those can help. All in all though, Herbalism, Mining, and/or Skinning are your best bet for not messing with your leveling while they make you some nice extra gold to buy whatever you need.

  • Q2. Do you have to pay for Azeroth flying in Cataclysm?

A2. I'm not sure if you will ever have to but currently in the beta you don't need to.

  • Q3. When are you going to start releasing more Cataclysm videos?

A3. Right now I'm finishing up my Wrath videos which will probably take a week or two and then I'll be focusing purely on Cataclysm for the most part unless some interesting things happen in Wrath.
