How to Easily Defeat Professor Putricide in Icecrown Citadel Guide!

Below is an overview video and detailed walk-through on how to easily defeat Professor Putricide, the last boss of the Plagueworks Quarter in 10m Icecrown Citadel. This guide will give an overview of the fight and all players' roles.
- Overview: How to Easily Defeat Professor Putricide in Icecrown Citadel!
Suggestions: Nature resistance buff, Flasks, buff food, vent, and most importantly, have fun!
Icecrown Citadel 10m: Professor Putricide: Phase 1 Overview
- The last boss of the Plagueworks Quarter in Icecrown Citadel is Professor Putricide.
- This fight is fairly simple but will take some getting use to. The fight requires high dps, 2 tanks, and 2-3 healers. One of the tanks should pilot the Mutated Abomination during the first 2 phases. In phase 3 they will help tank. Piloting the Mutated Abomination is quite easy and shouldn't take the tank too long to figure out. The tank will use the Mutated Abomination to eat slime pools to gain ooze power. They can then use an ability to snare the green and orange adds that spawn.
- In phase one start by tanking the boss on the left side of the room which is opposite of where the first green blob will spawn. If you're dps is high enough, you can nuke the boss enough to enter phase two before a second mob spawns. The green blob will target a random raid member besides the one Putricide has aggro on and stun them in place. If the player is range they can continue to attack and use all their abilities. The stun only prevents the player from moving. If the dps isn't high enough to nuke the mob before it reaches the player have the other dps stack on the stunned player. This will spread the damage between the players and ease healing.
- After the green blob is dead everyone should shift to the opposite side of the room away from the orange blob that will spawn. The orange blob is the most dangerous and should be snared by the tank piloting the Mutated Abomination. This mob must die as fast as possible and whoever it targets needs to kite it around the room. Sprint, rocket boots, teleport, and blink can be helpful here. If it happens to touch the kiter it's likely a wipe.
Icecrown Citadel 10m: Professor Putricide: Phase 2 Overview
- Phase 2 begins when Putricide reaches 80% hp. Putricide will then stun all players for 10 seconds. If any adds are up they will remain into the next phase so it's ideal to kill them before a phase change.
- Phase 2 is mostly the same as Phase 1 with adds continuing to spawn. Putricide will also throw Malleable Goo onto a random raid member. The player targeted needs to move away from the area before it gets them or it will cause around 15k damage and slow their attack and cast speed by 200% for 15 seconds. It's especially important for healers to avoid this. Putricide will also drop orange explosive vials on the ground. They explode after 20 seconds so make to move the boss away from them.
Icecrown Citadel 10m: Professor Putricide: Phase 3 Overview
- As Putricide reaches 35% Phase 3 begins. If possible kill all adds and eat up the slime pools before entering this phase. The 2nd tank will be ejected from the Mutated Abomination and will need to help tank the boss. Phase 3 is simply a dps race so pop Blood lust or Heroism as Malleable Goo and Choking Gas Bombs continue, he also progressively deals more damage, and slime pools continue to grow. The raid will also take AoE damage from a debuff called Mutated Plague. This debuff is stacked on the tank and shouldn't exceed 4 stacks. At 4 stacks, the 2nd tank should taunt off the main tank. If the debuff expires on either tank or if anyone dies from it, they will heal the boss for a massive amount.
Icecrown Citadel 10m: Professor Putricide: Short Recap
-
Use Abom to eat slime pools and snare adds
Nuke adds immediately
Avoid explosive vials and Malleable Goo
Kill adds before phase changes
Bloodlust or Heroism in phase 3
Switch tanks at 4 stacks in phase 3
and most importantly, have fun! - So there you have it. A simple walk-through of the fight with Professor Putricide. He's not that difficult but is a bit of a challenge getting use to for some.
Good luck and I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you have any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please make a post on our forums.
