Icecrown Citadel 10m: Blood Prince Council: Overview

  • The Blood Prince Council, the 1st boss encounter of the Crimson Hall in Icecrown Citadel!
  • The Blood Prince Council fight at first will appear to be somewhat of a challenge but shouldn't be too difficult for any guild. The raid comp should consist of 2 tanks and 1 ranged tank. We typically have a hunter or warlock be the third tank but any ranged with a large enough health pool should suffice. You'll also want 2-3 healers and the rest dps.
  • The most noticable mechanic to this fight is there are three mobs but only one will be buffed with Invocation of Blood and have a health pool. Naturally, the one buffed will be the dps' focus.
  • Before the pull set-up is fairly simple. Assign atleast 2 pets to Kinetic Bombs, a range or regular tank to Prince Keleseth, and one regular tank to Prince Valanar and Prince Taldaram. Most prefer tanking the Princes where they begin but moving them isn't bad either. The range tank needs to immediately start gathering Dark Nucleii. The range should be spread out atleast 12 yards while Prince Valanar has a health pool.

Icecrown Citadel 10m: Blood Prince Council Encounter: Prince Valanar

  • The first of the Princes to be buffed and empowered will always be Prince Valanar. His main ability is casting shock vortexes on random raid members. Basically, if you notice a white swirling light at your feet you want to move away from it. If it hits you, you'll be tossed about 50 yards and take damage. The damage is neglegable but the knock back can cause you to out range heals and die. While Prince Valanar is empowered his shock vortex will be placed on every raid member in the room. You'll want to stay 12 yards away from any other player to avoid additional damage. This is especially difficult for melee. If while running away they become too stacked, melee can instantly kill themselves from the stacked damage. The last ability of Prince Valanar is Kinetic Bombs. They will drop from the ceiling and cannot be killed. They need to be attacked to keep them from hitting the floor. If they hit the floor, they will explode for 12k or so damage and knock back every raid member. This will usually cause a wipe. While assigning range dps to them can work out, it's much easy to simply have a warlock pet on one and a hunter or dk pet on the other.
  • Lastly, sometimes a shock vortex is cast on a raid member near a boss. Be sure to have the tank move the boss away from it. If melee are stacked this can be hard to see so, pay attention.

Icecrown Citadel 10m: Blood Prince Council Encounter: Prince Taladram

  • The next Prince to be empowered is random but for us it happened to be Prince Taladram. His special ability is to cast a ball of flames and toss it at a random raid member. The fire ball is faster than a player so if you're targeted, immediately try to gain some distance before it hits you. Sprint and Rocketboots can come in handy here. Melee or anyone close can let the orb touch them which will decrease its size and damage. The more players it touches before reaching its target, the less damage it will cause. Prince Taladram also has a conal fire-attack called Glittering Sparks. Try spreading out a bit and avoiding the damage as best as possible.

Icecrown Citadel 10m: Blood Prince Council Encounter: Prince Keleseth

  • The last Prince in the encounter is Prince Keleseth. He is best tanked by a ranged dps who has a decent health pool. Using PvP gear is a great way to get enough HP. If you want to be even safer, gemming and enchanting stam can be even more helpful. Ofcourse a normal tank can be used but in 10m it's not common to have 3 tanks so a ranged is usually the best option. The Dark Nucleii are weak and eventually die on their own so throughout the entire fight the range tank needs to be gathering as many Dark Nucleii as possible. When Prince Keleseth becomes empowered his Shadow Lance will do an immense amount of damage typically twice that of any well geared tank. The Dark Nucleii are the key to tanking this boss and therefore make sure no AoE is ever near the range tank. When Prince Keleseth is empowered, pop bloodlust or heroism. Since he is constantly casting, he won't be able to dodge any attacks. Range and healers can also rest easier during this time since he doesn't do anything devastating to the raid itself.
