Cata Herb Gold Making Guide: Uldum (Whiptail) - Best Route | Getting Started/Farming

To get started, you'll need to have 500 Herbalism or 495 with the Gatherer +5 enchant and be atleast level 80 with Azeroth flying/flying mount or form. You'll also want to download the addons, Routes, Gatherer or Gathermate2 and its data; if you want the nodes already marked although I prefer a clean slate and like to make my own personally. Then, have a Herb bag or a mostly empty inventory. Also, make sure you have one regular bag to collect all your items from killing mobs and that there mostly empty. Next, make sure you're tracking herbs and the mini-map is zoomed all the way out. Lastly, be repaired, have some food/water, blare some music, and have fun!

• To get to Uldum just take the port in your faction's major city or fly there. Once in Uldum, start on the route I put on my map or unhide the route I've given you with my custom Routes addon. • Alright, so I'm in the awesome zone known as Uldum for 30 minutes using my herb route for 30 minutes. This is one zone where I only have one route because there really isn't any point to having more than that. You can be creative and try to make a different one if you want. This route is so simple and just flys along the river banks. When I get to the lower half, I try slightly zig-zagging through the center making sure to hit both sides. Never think, "Oh, I can come back for that herb node." because, it's almost certain to not be there. A good portion of the herbs here will be next to an Alligator or something of the sorts. If you're 85 it's an easy kill and even at lower levels it won't be much of a problem. It can be a time consumer so having a class with a de-aggro ability that can CC the mob, loot the node, de-aggro the mob, and fly away is pretty ideal. Something like a Rogue or Hunter. Just remember to loot first and then kill or de-aggro.

• Uldum by far has to be the busiest zone next to Twilight Highlands when it comes to farming. Druids can really shine here and even with super high competition can come out ahead. Other classes can do well by picking an off peak time like early morning or late at night. I even find raid times to be pretty good which are usually 7pm-10pm on most servers. So, if you don't get a spot in this week's raid or are waiting for a spot, try farming a little and see how well you do.

  Detailed List of Items from Herbalism: Ok, it's been 30 minutes and I was able to get a nice 292 Whiptail, 6 Cinderbloom, and a sick 82 Volatile Life. I'll put everything on the Auction House for 12 hours undercutting any competition.
  
  Herbalism:
  Whiptail x 292 = 584g (2g ea.)
  Cinderbloom x 6 = 5.88g (0.94g ea.)
  Volatile Life x 82 = 451g (5.5g ea.)
  ------------------------------------
  Total = 1,040.88g in 30 minutes
  or 2,081.76g per hour.

• It took about four hours to sell everything and my total for the 30 minutes session was 1,040.88g or 2,081.76g per hour. That makes it one of the best herb zones hands down.
• Keep in mind these are prices for my server so to see how yours would of done, check the Auction House and plug in the prices.
• The best classes to use for farming are Paladin and Druid. DK's with the movement talent are good as well. Mining or Engineering are the best professions to go with Herbalism for farming and Alchemy or Inscription for crafting. It's also ideal to have 310% flying.
